I am looking for housing for my client and his barriers are credit and a non-violent recent conviction but he has a good job and stable income. I am having
a very hard time finding any housing for him. Any resources out there?

Tacoma Housing Authority will be hosting their Ground-Breaking Ceremony along with the Anchor Community Initiative Celebration. Please RSVP to the event in the link below.
Dear Friend of THA:
Tacoma Housing Authority is very pleased to invite you to join many community leaders and partners at an important celebration. You can help us celebrate the groundbreaking and launch of two innovative, ambitious and transforming projects to end youth homelessness
in Pierce County by 2022: THA’s Arlington Drive Campus for Homeless Youth and Young Adults, and the Pierce County Anchor Community Initiative. You will also learn about the work ahead and how you can help.
Please join us at this place and time:
MetroParks' Eastside Community Center
1721 E 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98404
Friday, January 4th, 2019; 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
We will serve appetizers to sustain you for a short program beginning at Noon. The program will feature community leaders and partners who make this work possible, including an address by the First Lady of Washington State, Ms. Trudi
Inslee. The program will also feature young people whose experience with homelessness allows them to explain why this work is important and why we have good reasons to celebrate. Please come and help us do that.
Cordially,
Michael Mirra

Thank you for joining us for our 12/6 Learn at Lunch webinar “Martin v Boise: Challenging Laws that Criminalize Homelessness”. You can find a recording of the webinar and the slides
here.
A special thank you to Tristia Bauman, Senior Attorney at the National Law Center on Poverty and Homelessness (NLCHP), and Professor Sara Rankin, Associate Professor and Director of the Seattle University Homeless Rights Advocacy
Project, for sharing their expertise, and their work to make sure the rights of people experiencing homelessness are protected.
A few follow-ups:
· Endorse the
“Housing Not Handcuffs” campaign, and be part of an active network of communities challenging laws that punish homelessness.
· Learn more about the
ongoing effort with Disability Rights CA to expand Martin v. Boise to apply to people living in their vehicles.
Check out these NLCHP resources Tristia highlighted in the webinar:
· “Housing Not Handcuffs”
report and
litigation manual—lays out the various criminalization policies across the country and legal challenges to laws that punish homelessness.
·
“Tent City USA” report—principles, case studies, and model policies to guide a community in providing alternatives for people living outdoors in the absence of permanent housing solutions and challening criminalization.
·
“Protect Tenants, Prevent Homelessness” report—details how evictions are a direct cause of homelessness and promote policies like rent control, “Just Cause” eviction reform (a
Housing Alliance legislative priority in 2019), and the right to legal counsel.
And, on behalf of the Housing Alliance, I’d like to wish everyone a restful, joyous, safe holiday season.
