Dear Coalition Friends:

Although not directly related to homelessness, I thought this might be of interest to many of you.  If you could help publicize it (as well as attend, if you can), that would be most appreciated!

Immigration Forum – January 5

An issue that is currently in the forefront of the news is immigration.  Should we change our national policies?  If so, how?

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a free community forum for the public at which a powerful panel will discuss the issues in the national debate and their perspectives.  Congressman Derek Kilmer, 6th Congressional District; Saiyare Refaei, member of the Tacoma Commission on Immigrant and Refugee Affairs; Robin Jacobson, PhD, Professor of Politics and Government at University of Puget Sound; and Noah Purcell, Washington State Solicitor General, will speak about federal policy, local issues associated with immigration and how to get involved.

The forum is Saturday, January 5, 2019, 10am–noon, First United Methodist Church, 621 Tacoma Ave S, Tacoma 98402.  Erin Guinup, Music Director of the Tacoma Refugee Choir, will also perform.  Co-sponsors include AID NW, St. Leo’s Parish, Tacoma Community House and Rainbow Center.

Hope to see many of you there.  Thank you!
