ELOISE’S COOKING POT FOOD BANK IN TACOMA

CONTINUES SUPPORT TO FEDERAL EMPLOYEES

AFFECTED BY GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

The Making A Difference Foundation (MADF) announces the Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank in Tacoma will remain open on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for federal employees affected by the federal government shutdown. These Wednesdays are reserved specially for federal employees.

The MADF is also offering up to $250 “mini grants” to those federal workers who demonstrate immediate need for bill assistance. To apply, simply visit The MADF website at www.themadf.org. For this assistance, a bill must be of a critical need (power, heat, water, health insurance premium, car insurance premium, or car payment) that became delinquent during the furlough period. These “mini grants” are available while funds last.

If you are a federal employee who needs assistance during this hard time, please come by to see how we can help you. Along with “mini grants” being available, federal employees can shop for prepackaged food, fresh produce, household products, baby supplies, and pet food, no questions asked. Federal employees are also welcome to come to the food bank any other day it is open. Eloise’s Cooking Pot continues to serve the community with needed food and other items six days a week during varied hours at the on-site location and with home delivery service. Visit MADF’s website at www.themadf.org for more information and hours of operation.

The MADF and its President and Founder, Ahndrea Blue, continue to focus on the mission to make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time, by helping them acquire the most basic human needs: food, housing, encouragement, and opportunity. As stated by Ms. Blue, “We understand in normal times how challenging it can be to meet the basic needs of ourselves and our families. When circumstances beyond our control come up, such as a government shutdown, and we have no idea how long paychecks won’t come in and it can be very stressful. We want to help those federal employees facing this challenge, many who continue to work and make our communities run smoother without pay during the furlough. We, as a community, are in this together and it is important to support one another.”

The Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank is a program of The MADF and is the second largest independent food bank in Pierce County with the largest food delivery system. This food bank serves an average of 12,000 people with over 150,000 lbs. of food and other goods each month. Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank is located at 3543 E. McKinley Avenue on Tacoma’s east side. They can be reached at 253-212-2778; info@themadfseattle.org.
