YouthBuild is searching for an
Employment Specialist to join our team! YouthBuild is a GED and pre-apprenticeship construction training program working with 18-24 year olds.
Who We are Looking for:
The perfect YouthBuild Employment Specialist has a passion for networking, young adults ages 18-24, and coaching job skills, interview
preparation and curriculum. They know how to connect with both the youth they serve and the surrounding business and learning community - be it with unions, higher education, or traditional employers. We need a strong communicator, a proactive collaborator, and
a master of facilitation. You have to have the hustle, and strong documentation skills that track and record your efforts and that of our program participants. You'll be teaching life and job skills to a demographic that needs guidance, and you know how to
deliver that message in a way that resounds with them. You are patient, but also persistent. Most importantly, you care .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Network and partner with private and public sector employers and businesses to develop career-building internships, and job placements that lead to sustainable wages and benefits for participants
and alumni.

Collaborate with fellow Workforce Development team members to place program graduates and alumni into new employment/internships/apprenticeship opportunities.

Market placement services to employers in the community and present appropriate job leads to participants.

Check-in with participants at regular intervals to learn about their career goals as well as immediate needs.

Prioritize internship opportunities for standout participants starting in their 5th month of program.

Ensure participants are prepared before going to job interviews and conduct follow-up assessments.

Collaborate with fellow Workforce Development team members offering soft skills learning, portfolio building, and mock interviewing. Ensure that participants are enrolled and exited successfully
through these supplemental programs.

Consult with YouthBuild team regarding individual participant program plans at scheduled meetings.

Provide support between employer and participant post job placement as needed.

Facilitate hiring events for local employers.

Maintain necessary documentation, including case notes, referrals, and timesheets.

Other duties relevant to program success may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
-
BA preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for some of the education required.

Vocational counseling experience preferred.

Proven skills in cultivating partnerships with employers, businesses and organizations.

Experience working directly with young adults ages 18-24
