Just in from Michele Thomas, Director of Policy for the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance:

I'm really happy to share that SB 5600/Kuderer has undergone its last step before heading to the governor. It was concurred to by the Senate today with a vote of 30:18:1!!!

Please thank Senator Kuderer and Representative Macri for their incredible leadership!

In addition to getting signed by the Governor, the bill needs to be funded. It has a "null and void" clause on it that makes the whole bill null if there is not funding.

Colleagues - this is the major tenant protection bill - it gives 14 days instead of 3, and adds judicial discretion to eviction proceedings.  This will help prevent homelessness across the state.  It doesn't matter what district you are in - take a minute to click on the email links and just say thank you to Rep. Macri and Sen. Kuderer.

Michele and other advocates are closely watching the budget negotiations to be sure the $1Million needed to fund the bill is included.
