Colleagues,
If you work or live or have clients who work or live in the City of Tacoma, please see the following item from the City Council Agenda for Tuesday, May 7, 2019:  Note - I have attached the Agenda and if you go to Item 12 on the agenda, you can click on the Resolution, the City Council Action Memorandum, and the Agreement.  For some reason I am not able to attach these three.

If you want to comment but cannot attend, here are their emails -

If you are able to do so, here are a couple of talking points to consider using:

1.  We support Resolution 40323 to execute an agreement with the Tacoma Rescue Mission to add an additional 50 emergency shelter beds.  Then if you have something to add about the need for these additional beds, please do so - for instance, to provide emergency shelter for single women who are sleeping outside, in their vehicles or in unsafe places.

2.  We want to maintain the current capacity of the Stability Site and want these new 50 emergency shelter beds to be in addition to what is already available to people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Here's the Agenda item

12. RES40323

A resolution authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Tacoma Rescue Mission, in the amount of $1,600,000, budgeted from various departmental funds, for the emergency shelter expansion of 50 beds.
[Erica Azcueta, Homelessness and Household Stability Manager;
Linda Stewart, Director, Neighborhood and Community Services]
