Hello.I just received a call from a family of 4 that just recently became homeless.Mom is the sole provider and brings in $1400 / month.Currently staying with Mother-in-law but that could jeopardize MIL’s housing. They called 211 to do Coordinated Entry and waiting to hear back from “a navigator” per 211.Husband was applying for SSDI but now willing to work as process is taking too long.Any ideas, thoughts, resources is greatly appreciated.Best Regards,Dawn BohlProgram SupervisorSupportive ServicesCavanaugh Stability Site(253) 307-8249

Hi Maira,I don’t know about gas cards, and CCR sometimes helps out with diapers and wipes, but I don’t have any on hand at the moment. We have bus passes available if that might help the family, but no gas cards. I would recommend contacting the Family Support Office at the Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center at 253-272-0903. They get donations year-round from the public and also have donations from Bed, Bath, and Beyond that may include baby supplies. Hope you find what they need!Hava TurskyHomeless Family Engagement Specialist1501 Pacific Ave, Ste 305Tacoma, WA 98042Phone: 253-272-8000 x287Fax: 206-336-7883Mobile: 206-573-6436Hello everyoneI was wondering if any of you knew of resources that help moms who have exceeded TANF get diapers or gas cards. Dear Maureen,Now that this wildly successful legislative session is over, what comes next? That's right -- implementation! We are hosting several "deep dives" into the key bills that passed this year to highlight exactly how they will benefit people with low incomes throughout the state, as well as some important steps for implementation. These webinars will cover SB 5600 (eviction reform), HB 1923 (removing barriers to building affordable homes), HB 1743 (prevailing wage methodology), Housing Trust Fund appropriations, and HB 1406 (local funding for affordable housing), and they will be a fantastic opportunity for you to ask questions. Please be sure to register via the links below. (You will notice we have switched to Zoom, which we hope will create a more user-friendly experience.) We are excited to go through these new bills and appropriations with you!Deep Dive into Eviction Reform SB 5600 with special guest Edmund Witter from the King County Bar Association’s Housing Justice Project.
