Nativity House serves everyone.  Guests use the dorm side (male or female) they identify with.

There are a lot of gender non-conforming or transgender clients at Comprehensive Life Resources young adult shelter.  I don’t know the specifics of the other shelters, but the data shows that nearly all of them somewhat regularly serve transgender clients.

Thanks,

Subject: Homeless Coalition - Shelter for Transwomen

Good morning,

We’ve had community members come to our office recently searching for trans-friendly shelter.  One trans woman told us she isn’t allowed at Pierce County women’s shelters but understandably doesn’t feel safe in a men’s shelter.  Are there women’s shelters or other resources I can safely refer this client to?

This request reminded me of the many recent discussions the coalition has had about equity in homeless services.  Thank you all for caring about finding safe and healthy housing for everyone in our community. It’s such a privilege to work with all of you.

Emily
