Colleagues,
Here are the links I spoke of this morning - remember, you can subscribe to these yourself.

1.  From Enterprise Community Partners:
  • The Minnesota Department of Human Services yesterday announced that the state received federal approval of housing stabilization services as a basic Medicaid benefit. The new package of services will help seniors and individuals with disabilities, including mental illnesses and substance use disorders, find and maintain their own housing and avoid costly institutional care. The new program, which will start in July 2020 and will be paid for under the state-federal Medicaid insurance program, will also provide tenant services, such as early identification of behavioral problems, to help mitigate evictions. This program would make Minnesota the first state in the nation to fund housing support services under its state Medicaid plan and is expected to help 7,600 people statewide. (Star Tribune, August 15) Earlier this year, Enterprise launched Health Begins with Home, a national initiative to harness the power of affordable homes to create healthier families and stronger communities.
2.  From Rep. Jake Fey's newsletter "Affordable Housing & Protecting Renters"
Be sure to read the last paragraph and respond to Rep. Fey at jake.fey@leg.wa.gov
If you are a youth provider, be sure to reach out to Rep. Fey - homeless youth are a special interest of his - personally and legislatively.  Let him know what you are doing and keep him in the loop.

3.  From Washington State Dept of Commerce - Office of Family and Adult Homelessness August Newsletter - I can't figure out the link so am just forwarding the email to you.

That's it folks - Happy Week-end and thanks for your work,
Maureen
