Colleagues,
I have attached the packet for today's Pierce County Council Human Services Meeting.  Scroll through the materials for the consultant's report and recommendations on restructuring Human Services followed by brief reports on Rapid Re-Housing and the Landlord Liaison Program.

Why is this important?  Note the recommendation re the 1/10th of one percent:

Human Services Department Study
Presenters: Wolfgang Opitz, Deputy Director, Finance Department
Erin Henderlight, Senior Advisor, Public Consulting Group

“Comparable counties have moved to access additional funding via tax levy (the “0.1% Mental Health tax levy”). These funds have provided counties with an additional $10–15M in funds per year to provide new services or to replace lost federal funds. Moves to enact a similar levy in Pierce County have been politically difficult and unsuccessful in the past. It is worth noting, however, that there are tremendous opportunities through this levy to fund a wide array of services at a level well beyond what the county would be able to provide from grants or general funds.”

Thank you for your work,
Maureen
