Colleagues,
We talked about evictions as a leading cause of homelessness this morning at the Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness.  HB2453 is still in House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee and has been rescheduled for Monday.  This could always change. The important thing is to contact the Committee members but especially Rep. Steve Kirby, D-29th and ask them to vote YES on HB2453 and pass it out of committee. 

Here's the information from the Tacoma Tenants Organizing Committee (edited by Maureen):

The very least that landlords can do is provide a legitimate business reason for terminating a tenancy. Right now in Tacoma, landlords only have to provide 60 days written notice to terminate a month-to-month tenancy - and they don't have to specify why, or give the tenant any reason. In most of the state, landlords only have to give 20 days' notice.


Please urge the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee members to pass Just Cause.
