TACOMA RESIDENTS GRAPPLE WITH CHANGING NEIGHBORHOODS
AS SEATTLEITES AND THEIR MONEY FLOW SOUTH
The changes are most felt in historically diverse and low-income neighborhoods like Hilltop, South Tacoma and Tacoma’s Eastside.

TO UNLEASH HOUSING SUPPLY, ALLOW AND FINANCE ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS
STEP 1: ALLOW ADUS. STEP 2: FINANCE ADUS.
Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in particular can help expand the affordable housing supply, and many communities are rewriting their local zoning laws to allow them. Financing ADUs, however, has been limited.

PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING: ONE OPTION FOR ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS
UNDERSTAND PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING (PSH)
Finding affordable housing options for the formerly homeless and providing them with needed services to help them lead productive lives is a laudable yet difficult goal. Permanent supportive housing, however, is an option that may help to provide one solution.

ADVOCACY OPPORTUNITIES
SUPPORT A BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TAX FOR PIERCE COUNTY

To address the behavioral health crisis, Councilmembers Connie Ladenburg and Derek Young are introducing a Behavioral Health Ordinance, the one-tenth of 1% sales tax for behavioral health, for Council consideration and approval.

This funding can help provide support services within permanent supportive housing to address the needs of chronically homeless individuals. PSH is the most expensive affordable housing project to develop and is one of the most needed in our community.
