Resilient Fundraising Strategies and Alternatives to Meeting in Person
Dear Colleague,

As the coronavirus affects more and more people in Washington, our hearts go out to those who are ill or have lost family members.  We also know that many nonprofit leaders are scrambling and working long hours to prepare and keep their services available to the vulnerable people they serve—thank you!

While Washington Nonprofits doesn’t have the expertise to help with the public health aspects of the outbreak, we have pulled together two opportunities to learn that we hope will help many nonprofits figure out how to adjust to the new climate we find ourselves operating in.

Best,

Laura Pierce
Executive Director

P.S. We are scheduling this immediately because we know you are facing tough decisions right now, so please help us spread the word to those that might benefit.

Coronavirus - What am I supposed to do about my fundraising event?

Monday, March 9
3:00PM - 4:00PM
Online, Free

We know that nonprofit leaders are struggling to figure out how to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic threat. One practical consideration is whether or not to cancel upcoming events. Given that it is high season for fundraisers, we are providing a space to talk as a community about what to do. We can't give you advice about your individual event, but we can share some of the steps you might take to make an informed decision. We'll also share some ideas about what to do if you cancel your event—how will you replace that revenue?

Please plan to share your questions and actions you are taking so we can learn together. Rebecca Zanatta from The Ostara Group and Laura Pierce from Washington Nonprofits will host this free, informal online conversation.

Alternatives to Meeting in Person

Thursday, March 19
12:00PM - 1:00PM
Online, Free

With the growing possibility that public meetings and events in the near future will need to be canceled, you may be wondering, What are my other options?. Can we accomplish our in-person meetings and events using technology? Join Tom Lang and Tracy Flynn from our learning department as they share their thoughts about how to shift your meetings to be virtual if your staff, board, and partners are working remotely due to coronavirus. They will share some practical tips for getting started using online videoconferencing apps, planning effective meetings, and facilitating when you are not in the same room together.
