Hello, Erick. The Governor has been issuing proclamations on various topics, including one on evictions. It is called Proclamation 20 - 19 and it is available here:

https://www.governor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/proclamations/20-19%20-%20COVID-19%20Moratorium%20on%20Evictions%20%28tmp%29.pdf

Essentially, no one may even be evicted before April 17, UNLESS the landlord believes that there is a health, safety or welfare issue.  It is possible that this will be extended, depending on the situation at that time.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi William,

Brumley Law Firm has created some useful COVID-19 related forms. Check out this link:

The “Covid-19 Landlord Letter” document on their site should be helpful  in this situation.

Subject: Homeless Coalition - Eviction during Covid

Hi All,

I have a person who is currently being asked to vacate their apartment unit by March 3st. The eviction notice was posted on March 2nd, and this person has not been able to secure other housing at this time. With the recent moratorium on evictions, I’m concerned that this person is being “pushed” to comply with the eviction, and the property management company is counting on this persons lack of understanding to comply with the eviction request. This person a section 8 voucher, and is working towards finding another apartment to rent.

I’m hoping that someone can guide me towards legal resources, the mandate itself and/or an agency that may step in on behalf of this individual. My understanding is that the courts are not open at this time to enforce evictions, but that’s not comfortable to those of us who are legally challenged.

Any input would be great!
