Hello Coalition
If you are working with anyone who is un-banked, I am happy to help change that. I'm setting up appointments right now for Saturday (5/16) and Monday (5/18). People can text me at the number below to request an appointment. Setting up the account should only take about 10-15 minutes but I'm booking half hour slots. On Tuesday I'll send out the next available openings.
This is not a paying gig for me or Maureen, and Ziquora Banks (of Seattle Credit Union) just added this to her ongoing workload. We are doing this because it will help people to recieve their stimulus checks and keep their money safe once they receive the funds. As you likely know, there are multiple additional benefits of having a bank account.
Please help engage enough folks in the pilot project phase (to work out any issues) so we can transform this experiment into an ongoing resource for people experiencing homelessness.
Here is what people need to set up an account:
- a way to go on-line
- an email account that is theirs
- a phone or access to one
- a way to copy and send the ID electronically to Seattle Credit Union (taking a photo with a smartphone or scanning the ID will both work)
- a snail mail address so the applicant can receive their debit card (the address can be a shelter as long as we get the shelter on Ziquora's list)
If any of these requirements are barriers - give me a call and we'll try to sort something out.
Thank you all for the good work you do.
