Colleagues,
Pierce County reports weekly on the status of CARES Act funds.  You can find the report here:

https://internal.open.piercecountywa.gov/Finance/COVID-19-CARES-Act-Project-Allocations-Detail/tt4p-psbi

This report does not detail the grantees but that information for Human services is available at:  https://www.co.pierce.wa.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=4688.  If you click on Additional Information on the page the link brings up, you'll find the grantees and the amount of each award.

Remember - these are the CARES Act funds going through Pierce County.  There are other CARES Act funds that went to the State and some of those, like the Relief Fund, went to individual cities and counties which did not receive direct allocations like Pierce County.  HUD funds go directly to grantees - like the City of Tacoma, Lakewood, and Pierce County.  Legal services funds come through a whole different set of channels.

In many cases, the same funding source can be used for several different purposes.

As you talk about the use of funding sources, especially with colleagues from other jurisdictions and other states, I encourage you to ask them to be very specific about the exact CARES Act funding they are discussing.  In some cases, it may not be CARES Act funding but State or local general funds or other funding sources.

I would look at program designs and also communication, outreach and marketing strategies that seem useful and pass those on to the jurisdiction with which you are working.

If you have COVID-19 needs that are not reflected in NOFA's or even if your funders do not have a public process, I encourage you to reach out to funders and ask how these needs can be met.   Funders are not on the front-line.  They need to hear from those of you who are.

We have a lot of money available and most of it has to move very quickly.  We owe it to the people without shelter and those at risk for homelessness to use it wisely.

Thank you for your work,
Maureen
