Hi there,
I’m not sure what YWCA this client contacted, but here in Pierce County the shelter functions off of a waiting list. The client would need to complete a phone screening to determine eligibility and then they’d be placed on the list and contacted when a unit
that fits their family size is available. There are no mats; all of the residents are placed into their own unit with locking door and it’s a 90 day stay. The units are set up like apartments with beds, kitchens, and bathrooms. Each family has their own unit
so there is no sharing of spaces, either.
I hope this clears that up, if you have any other questions about the shelter please call the crisis line at 253-383-2593. This number is the number the client would call to do a phone screening as well.
Take care,
Kristen

Subject: Homeless Coalition - DV referral?
Hello,
I am working with a client that is 14 weeks pregnant, fleeing domestic violence, and is currently homeless. I am reaching out to see what services are available for her. She is currently working 20 hours per week at the VA in Lakewood
because she feels sick most of the time. She told me that she spoke with the YWCA and they said they could only offer her a mat on the floor to sleep on (Is that how the Y operates?).
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thank you.
