Good morning,

I have a client who is in need of housing, due to some changes going on with his building. This gentleman is on the 6th floor of a building that’s in the middle of fixing the elevator. Due to the strain of having to climb so high to return to his apartment, he hasn’t been able to leave very much. He is completely blind, but independent once he learns how a new space is laid out.

Is anyone aware of apartments with availability for a new tenant? My client is planning on leaving the country as soon as the travel ban is lifted, so he is only interested in short-term leases.

In solidarity,

Hello Coalition – We are working with a person who would like to move to Sacramento, California to be closer to family. This person owns a dog  which is not a service animal. Does anyone know of transportation service’s that can assist this person on moving to Sacramento?

I’ve heard Greyhound will send them Home for free if they have a good phone # in Sacramento that someone will answer and if they say they can & will provide housing, they will send them home.

You’d have to call Greyhound to see what the rules are for transporting an animal – in a kennel maybe?

I was wondering if anyone has maybe 25-40 hygiene packs and/or snack packs, previously I would put the bags together myself so even just some supplies would be a blessing. I want to have them readily available for those of our folks that are experiencing homelessness can get some things.

I can come pick up whatever donation you can help me with. :)

The Salvation Army used to help me out with this ALOT, I don't know if they're still able, but anything helps!

Happy dreeeeery Monday ya'll

Rental Assistance Mistakes by Bryan Green (16 Nov 2020 21:54 UTC)

I’m working with a single mom who’s needing $4000 in rental assistance. She’s applied for the PC rental assistance before but accidentally did it twice and was denied because they thought she was “trying to double dip.” Any thoughts on how she can apply again or receive support?

Thanks!

No one is denied for duplicate applications. It does hinder the process as I hold both applications through a deduplication process before sending them out.  However, that is not the reason for a refusal.  We have households applying 5 and 6 times.  Things are stressful out there and we understand that.

The reasons for a denial of services:

Over income (80% AMI based on household size)Not in Pierce CountyNot in arrears (we can only pay rental arrears)

We do often have trouble getting landlords to be willing to work with the program and that in case we can’t pay the rent.  We also have trouble getting clients to answer their phone and send in the required documentation (everything can be self-certified if necessary)

I have spoke with Bryan (Thanks for calling Bryan) and am happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
