Subject: Webinar invitation - The Plan to Prevent Evictions and Homelessness in Washington, Wed. Feb. 24 at 5pm
To: Maureen Howard <maureenhowardconsulting@gmail.com>

Hi Maureen,

As you know, more than 220,000 Washington renters are currently behind on rent, and even more are spending down their savings or borrowing money just to make rent. In the face of this looming crisis, significant work has gone into developing state legislation that will keep people in their homes now and into the future.

I'm inviting you to an educational webinar, The Plan to Prevent Evictions and Homelessness in Washington, on the suite of legislation that state lawmakers are ushering forward to ensure that, as our eviction moratorium is lifted, renters in Washington do not face eviction, but instead have access to rental assistance, the right to an attorney, and protections that close loopholes in our landlord-tenant laws. We will share updates on the key bills (HB 1236, HB 1277, SB 5160, HB 1441), how they interact with each other, and provide an explanation of the eviction process if passed.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 24, 5:00-6:30 PST
Where: Via Zoom -- registration link below

Presenters will include:

  • John Pollock, National Coalition for a Civil Right to Counsel
  • Fadi Assaf, Northwest Justice Project
  • Terri Anderson, Tenants Union of Washington
  • Edmund Witter, King County Housing Justice Project
  • Michele Thomas, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance
Register for the webinar!

I hope to see you there on Wednesday! Questions in the meantime? Email me at johns@wliha.org.

In solidarity,

John Stovall
