Colleagues,
This is what I know as of now - 5pm on Wednesday, June 23.  Please watch for updates in the press, from the City of Tacoma, from Pierce County, and from local jurisdictions and organizations.   Everyone will be at risk during the anticipated high temperatures of Saturday-Sunday-Monday.  The Pierce County Department of Emergency Management and other Departments of Emergency Management are meeting on a coordinated response.  They are including people living unsheltered in their response.

The Coalition's focus is people living unsheltered - people in encampments, vehicles, and the shelters adding outdoor respite space.  I will update the Coalition listserv and Gerrit will post on the Coalition website as we have confirmation of resources.

Water:
1.Nourish Pierce County will deliver two pallets of 800 bottles each to the Stability Site on Thursday. This water is free.  Outreach workers including volunteer self-help organizations like FoodNotBombs, Tacoma Mutual Aid Collective, and The People's Assembly, may pick up water.  Please take only what you need for the day.  If we run out of water, we have a plan to resupply the Stability Site.  We may also have other water available.  We'll let you know when we have confirmation.

Outreach workers and volunteers can contact the Stability Site directly at 253-307-7517.  Staff are available 24/7.  Just call the Stability Site for information on where or how to pick up water.  The water will be available for pick up Friday through Monday.  You'll need to give your name and/or organization to the staff at the front gate.  The water will be inside the gate. Again, please take only what you need for the day.

Matthew Jorgensen, City of Tacoma - Neighborhood and Community Services

Homelessness and Household Stability, is coordinating the delivery and storage at the Stability Site.  You can contact him during business hours at 253-591-5054.

2.  We are trying to make sure all the known encampments are covered.  Please email me your plan to distribute water Saturday-Sunday-Monday.  Also, if you are worried about a particular encampment, please let me know.

3. We plan to have garbage bags available at the Stability Site for distribution along with the water.  Right now, I have no idea how we'll get the filled bags picked up.  One thing at a time.

Thank you for your work,

Maureen
