SURVEY TO CAPTURE ARPA FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS
TPCAHC is putting a list of recommendations together and we want to hear from you. How could your organization use ARPA funding to alleviate housing insecurity, expand shelter capacity, and/or increase affordable housing stock?
Let's use this rare opportunity to fund housing needs in our community!
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocated $350 billing in Fiscal Recovery Funds to help states, counties, cities, and tribal governments respond to COVID-19. Of that, Pierce County will receive $175M in total, with the first $87.5M having been released May 10, 2021, and the second half to be released next year.
To date, in Pierce County, a total of $50M has been allocated. Of that, only $2.5M has been allocated to housing stability and homelessness - less than 2% of the entire ARPA funding we know Pierce County will receive.
Help us advocate to use Pierce County ARPA funds to invest in affordable housing construction, homelessness stabilization, shelter expansion, and housing programs that keep people housed.
TPCAHC will use this list of recommendations to advocate among County Council and staff to ensure housing needs are adequately funded.
Complete the survey today if your organization has:
- An affordable housing project ready to be developed that is in need of funding
- A housing program or project that could serve more individuals if you had more dollars to provide services
- A program plan to support moving folks off the streets and into an emergency shelter, housing, hotels, etc.
- Any new or existing programs that would support keeping people housed
- A need for preservation dollars to keep your affordable housing in adequate shape
- Any input that could advise the Council on the use of potential funds for housing and homelessness!
*Survey will close July 10th as recommendations need to be made to Council as soon as possible.
