Good afternoon everyone,
First, thank you - to each of you who helped get water, store water, distribute water to people in encampments all over Pierce County. We don't even know who everyone is; we just know there are a lot of you. Whatever your role, you saved lives. We have not
been made aware of any deaths among people living unsheltered. That was our goal - that everyone lived through this weather emergency.
For now, the water distribution center at the Stability Site is closed. We will reopen when the temperature reaches 85 degrees - the point at which the City of Tacoma opens the KWA Lighthouse cooling center.
For those of you who purchased water or garbage bags for use in the City of Tacoma, we are waiting on reimbursement details.
For those of you who know that there are garbage bags of empty bottles in encampments in the City of Tacoma, we are waiting on details to arrange pick-up.
For everyone, we are committed to a formal debriefing and will let you know when we have details. In the meantime, think about what worked well and what we could have done differently and what we'd like to have happen in the future.
Enjoy the cool weather and thank you for all you do to keep people safe,
Maureen
