Colleagues,
Thank you to Linda Stewart, Director of NCS for the City of Tacoma, for the notice on the City's response to the coming Heat Event. Please note new hours for water pick up at the Stability Site. I know we can make this work.
Jeff Rodgers, PC Human Services, is coordinating outreach team information - contracted and volunteers. If you have not done so, please let him know which encampments you plan to go out to on which days.
All faith based organizations in the City of Tacoma may set up cooling centers without any permits. If you do so, please let folks know - if you are receving this email, you can email the full coalition. Or send it to me and I'll send it out.
I forgot to ask about faith based organizations outside of the City of Tacoma but trust that our County partners will let us know.
Please encourage folks living unsheltered to go to cooling centers. I understand all the reasons they might not want to do so. But please try. Any air conditioned time will be helpful. We can help them replace any of their stuff that might be lost but we
cannot replace their lives.
Our goal as always is that every individual, every pet, living unsheltered has enough water every day. No one dies.
Take care all,
Maureen
