The announcement during the last Coalition meeting that St. Vincent de Paul will be providing Motel vouchers for inclement weather has generated a lot of excitement and questions.
I wanted to send an email for clarity and information purposes.
At this time, Pierce County has not sent St. Vincent’s a finalized agreement for the grant that will be funding these vouchers. We are not yet aware what the reimbursement process will consist of. As of this moment, no funds have been received for inclement weather vouchers and we have not been provided a timeline as to when this funding will be available. When this changes, I will make sure everyone is aware. We are excited to serve our community in this way, and eager to help provide shelter for vulnerable community members.
For now, we have to continue providing Motel vouchers in the same fashion we previously have been- in emergency circumstances, or as a temporary solution to bridge a housing or shelter gap.

RENTAL ASSISTANCE UPDATE. The Pierce County CARES rental, mortgage & utility assistance program is still open! Go to https://piercecountywa.gov/ 4701/Housing-Assistance-and-Programs. St. Vinnie's will be referring rental and utility assistance requests to Pierce
County.
