My name is Rachel Hauser, I’m a Community Health Worker with Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and I’ll be sharing weekly updates and information from TPCHD as it relates to our community members experiencing homelessness.
Here are some updates from TPCHD that may benefit you or those we serve:
Teens 16 and 17 years old who received Pfizer can now get boosters! Find a vaccine here, no insurance or ID needed 1st, 2nd and booster doses available
i. Everyone 16 years and older are eligible for boosters if:
They received Pfizer and it has been 6 months since 2nd doseii. Everyone 18 years and older are eligible for boosters if:
They received Moderna and it has been 6 months since 2nd doseThey received Johnson & Johnson and it has been 2 months since 1st dose Pediatric vaccine available. COVID-19 Testing Find a testing site here At-home test kits available at Pierce County Library System, Tacoma Public Library, and Puyallup Public Library
i. PCR – LetsGetChecked (authorized for ages 2 and up)
ii. Antigen – On/Go (rapid test with results in 10 minutes)
Quarantine and Isolation Need to quarantine or isolate? Healthcare and human services providers can refer patients at (253) 820-4684
COVID-19 Data Since Dec. 15, we’ve seen more than 250 positive COVID-19 cases each day, matching trends we saw in mid-OctoberCurrent 7-day hospitalization rate per 100,000 is 7.0 for Dec.5 - Dec.11, this is 29.6% higher than the previously reported 7-day period (date range Nov.28- Dec. 4)Transitioned to a new reporting schedule with most data reported once a week. Organized into 3 buckets:
i. Tuesday: Cases, deaths, hospitalizations and demographics
ii. Wednesday: Vaccines
iii. Thursday: Outbreaks, including schools, businesses and long-term care facilities
You can always find M-F updates on Pierce County cases, hospitalizations and deaths on the “State dashboard” tab on our data pageRemember, it’s flu season! Everyone 6 months or older should get a flu shot, see all our flu info hereFind flu vaccines for uninsured/underinsured adults here
