A powerful advocate for our community, Nola Renz, passed away on Wednesday, March 2nd. I really got to know Nola when she stepped into the role of Executive Director of TACID. She was all heart and made serving our most vulnerable her life’s work. Like so many in our community, her own lived experience drove an extraordinary life devoted to helping her neighbors. My heart aches.

In addition to her work at TACID, Nola served as the executive director of Helping Hand House for many years and was very involved with the Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness. She also worked at the United Way of Pierce County. A celebration of life will be held on April 10th at the Pagoda at Point Defiance Park from 1-3 pm, and the service will begin around 12:30 pm. Desserts will be served. Please contact Mia Navarro, miacnavarro@gmail.com with any questions.
