Dear Colleagues,

I received the message below this morning from Allyson Griffith at the City of Tacoma. In addition to what is included in the email, Allyson shared that HEAL Team members believe there are 36 tents and approximately 40 people residing in the area that will be subject to this sweep.

Rob,

I am following up on a voicemail I left you to let you know HEAL will be posting the encampments between S. 9th to S. 11th between M Street and MLK this morning.  Although our encampment removal policy allows a 72-hour posting, we are providing a two week posting period to allow for increased connection to shelter.  Removal will begin on Wednesday, May 18th.  Garbage and debris removal will occur after the encampment is unoccupied, and staff will continue to provide resources and notice to individuals on the site prior to the encampment removal.

The Homeless Engagement and Alternatives Liaison Team (HEAL Team) have been visiting this over the past month and have been able to connect six people to services in April.

Please let me know if you or members of the Coalition have questions.

Regards,

Allyson
