The days and weeks following labor and delivery are the most crucial for new mothers. During this time, women of all races are more likely to die from pregnancy-related deaths than they are during pregnancy or delivery. In order to improve these outcomes, and advance maternal health equity for all new and expecting parents, communities must continue to advocate for increased collaboration amongst stakeholders.
Through community-driven approaches and culturally competent models of care, CBOs are well-positioned to play an active role in improving maternal health outcomes in communities near and far. By providing wraparound services that go beyond traditional models of care, CBOs address the needs of new mothers by meeting them where they’re at, and when they need help most.
Together, we can turn this crisis around. Read our latest blog post to learn more about the role you can play in improving maternal health in your community.
