2025 GOALS AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
1. SENSE OF SAFETY IN COMMUNITY
In order to increase the feeling of safety for individuals and neighborhoods, the Neighborhood &
Community Services Department will reduce the timeframe of case from initial case reporting to
resolution by 35% and eliminate chronic homeless encampments by 2025.
Side note from Theresa: Does it trouble anyone else that the stated goal is to eliminate "chronic homeless encampments" rather than to eliminate chronic homelessness? And how will they differentiate between "chronic homeless encampments" and "new homeless encampments"?
On a similar note: why is the lead up purpose, "In order to increase the feeling of safety" rather than increasing actual safety? How will these "feelings of safety" be measured to determine if this ambiguous goal is met? How much are we paying consultants to do this performance measuring?
WHAT IS OUR GOAL?
To maintain the feeling of safety for individuals and neighborhoods, the Neighborhood and Community
Service department will maintain the length of open code compliance cases at 100 days by 2022.
There are 2 more goals on page 145 - maybe someone else has the bandwidth to do a review of those.
