Subject: TAKE ACTION - Ask the Senate to pass House Bill 1260 to end repayment requirements for recipients of ABD cash assistance

Dear Rob,

Please take a moment today to encourage the Senate Ways and Means Committee to move House Bill 1260 forward. The bill must be voted out of this committee by tomorrow or it will be dead for the session.

HB 1260, sponsored by Representative Emily Alvarado (D - 34), would remove the payback requirement for recipients of Aged, Blind, and Disabled cash assistance – an unfair and unreasonable requirement that for decades has penalized those who are extremely low income and disabled. The state currently collects over $25 million each year from extremely low income and disabled people. This is unfair and destabilizing, and it needs to stop.

The Senate Ways & Means Committee needs to pass the bill out of committee during their scheduled vote on April 4.

Please act today to tell your lawmakers that they must pass this critically needed bill.

Thank you for speaking up! Together we are building a brighter future!

In solidarity,

Michele Thomas
Director of Policy and Advocacy
