May is Mental Health Awareness month and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is
hosting a three-hour (11am-2pm) Family Mental Wellness event on Saturday, May 13th, 2023, at the Bethel Learning Center, in partnership with the Bethel School District. The event will be comprised of a 30-40 minute presentation by TPCHD for families
on best practices for helping young people through mental health crises, a question and answer segment, and 90+ minutes for folks to engage with a variety of mental health resource and activity booths. Food will be provided. There will be info booths from
local agencies who work in the mental health and substance misuse fields; as well as Social Emotional Learning activity booths for young people, family safety planning, engagement activities for families to learn and practice ways to improve emotional wellness.
The purpose of the event is to
provide an in-person event for parents and families to learn evidence-based practices, skills, tools, and resources to help support their young people through Mental Health challenges and/or crises. The
goals/outcomes of the event are as follows:
We are reaching out to you in hopes your organization may be interested in hosting a booth and/or
an activity for families to engage in at this event! Resource booths are great, but we are also hoping folks may be able to offer engaging wellness activities, workshops, and/or breakout discussions for youth and/or families, as well, around your area of expertise.
We are seeking folks who offer both traditional and alternative wellness services, as well as SUD services. We would absolutely love to have you there! Is this something you’d be interested in participating in?
If interested and/or have questions, please reach out to Courtney Chandler at cchandler@tpchd.org or
Zoe Grieder at zgrieder@tpchd.org.
Thank you so much!
ShyAnn Keenan
