    For those who are interested, this news conference will talk about the national All In initiative and specific funding coming to Seattle, among other cities, as the Federal government works to reduce homelessness by 25% by 2025. I will be tuning in at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.

    Unsheltered Homelessness Event

    TODAY at 2:00 PM ET, White House Domestic Policy Advisor Ambassador Susan Rice, Department of Veteran Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough, and U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) Executive Director Jeff Olivet will host a livestreamed White House event to announce the launch of ALL INside -- a first-of-its- kind partnership with state and local governments to address unsheltered homelessness in communities across the country. ALL INside is a key part of All In: The Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness, which set a bold goal to reduce homelessness 25 percent by 2025 and ultimately build a country where every person has a safe and affordable home.

    Learn how to identify discrimination, advocate for disability-related needs, and know what your protections are under federal, state and local laws. Instructed by Fair Housing Center of Washington.

    CLASS 2 –ACCESSING COMMUNITY RESOURCES

    Maintain your rental housing by utilizing community resources that offset costs in other areas of your life. Also hear expert tips on how to search for housing, understand your lease, and become a knowledgeable renter. Instructed by Associated Ministries.

    CLASS 3 – Financial Capability

    Thursday (May 25, 2023) 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

    Learn how to set a budget and improve your credit score. Participants who successfully complete this session gain access to ongoing programs with Sound Outreach to continue their progress toward financial stability. Instructed by Sound Outreach.

    CLASS 4 – Landlord/Tenant Rights & Relationships

    Friday (May 26, 2023) 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM

    Understand your rights and responsibilities under landlord/tenant laws in Tacoma and Washington state. Instructed by Mark Melsness from Spinnaker Property Managment.

     

    (Please note: participants must attend all three sessions to receive the certification.

    Classes do not need to be taken in order. Classes will be both in-person and online this month.)
