The YWCA Pierce County is an emergency shelter for individuals fleeing domestic violence (specifically intimate partner violence).

We complete screenings over the phone to determine eligibility to be placed on our priority list because we generally operate at full capacity in the shelter.  To complete a phone screen, please call us at (253) 272-4181 ext. 245 or 247.

There are several resources below, many which do NOT require a person to be fleeing intimate partner violence.

The ones in blue are DV specific, and while we cannot speak to any eligibility markers they may have, there are some that do not have the physical violence component. The ones in green are listed as accepting pets and the agencies list in bold offer housing assistance.

You can reach one of our Community Advocates for other resources such as tangible goods by calling (253) 272-4181; their office hours tend to be Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm. If you wish to complete a phone screening with one of our advocates, please call us at (253) 383-2593.

Their helpline is (253) 798-4166.  I do have contacts there, but I suspect they will want the client to contact them through the helpline.  If no one else has answered your question, I can give you contact information off-list so you can reach out and see if they’ll accept a warm hand-off.

Hi Community!

I have a mom who is fleeing DV and not connected to resources. I'd like to connect her with Crystal Judson if someone has a contact there? -She could also use legal guidance on how not to be financially burdened by the ongoing housing costs she is having to pay, while also paying for her own hotel. Protection order nearly in place.

Are there other DV resources that can support her? Please send them my way.

Thank you 🙂
