Hello,

Please don't give away unfixed and unvetted kittens.

There are a lot of rescues beyond the Humane Society that can help and get them fixed before adopting them out. (Female kittens can get pregnant as early as 4 months and have 3 litters in one season. It's much cheaper for rescues to get them fixed as it's becoming increasingly more expensive to do it through a private vet.)

Here's a resource with a list of local rescues and resources: Cat Rescues, Shelters, and Spay/Neuter Resources

Please do not give away "free' kittens.

Thanks (from a volunteer cat foster who had up to 18 fosters in her care this week - including 9 bottle babies - because people won't spay and neuter their pets)

Jess

It’s usually pretty easy to place free kittens.  I’ve seen plenty of posts on Facebook Buy Nothing groups , Next Door, and even Ring Neighbors that had far more people responding than there were kittens available.  A lot of people ask for a “small rehoming fee” to discourage people who want to use the cats for nefarious purposes, but recent posts have gotten more responders who recently lost a cat and miss the companionship for themselves or their remaining cat.  Some of them might be open to older cats for that reason.

Have you tried looking into getting a foster home for the kittens ?   I was told at the Homeless coalition last week that Greater Lakes in Lakewood has a hosting program.

Other resources might be found on the Pierce county homeless coalition site.

CATS ? Tenant being evicted and leaving at least 8 cats, most are kittens. Human Society said they currently can’t take cats. Any suggestions of what to do with the cats?

Help with Pregnant Female by Samantha Cooper (13 Aug 2024 20:36 UTC)

Good Afternoon,

I have a pregnant female who is due in November who is staying in shelter. Her boyfriend and 6 year old daughter stay in their car, and he has a new job currently. I have tried so many things and have yet to secure housing. Does anyone have any ideas? She has about a month left in shelter.
