I don't have any ideas but rather surprised that they would let her see the deceased. It's against the law after 24 hours (bacteria) unless embalmed and likely not doing that for a cremation...

I have a client whose adult daughter just passed away this past Saturday due to SUD-related illness exacerbated by home insecurity and poverty.

This client is unable to afford costs of cremation as-is and the funeral home they are currently working with (Edwards) is asking for a significant extra charge for the ability to see the body beforehand, and the cremation is scheduled for tomorrow. They are asking for finalization of plans by EOD.

I called SVDP, was unable to reach anyone at St. Leo's, was directed to CCS via navigator but not sure where I would start. TEARS only covers up to 12 y/o (that I see) and Pierce County doesn't have an indigent burial fund ex. King County.

Assistance appreciated!!
