To all community members:

Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) has funding available to assist low-income residents of the City of Tacoma who are behind on their utility bills. MDC offers several programs, including energy assistance to help you catch up on bills, weatherization services to improve your home’s energy efficiency, and support for homeowners who need help transitioning to electric heat.

To qualify, you must live within the Tacoma city limits and be behind on your utility bill. Income eligibility is based on the chart below or being at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Even if you’ve been denied in the past, you may still be eligible because of funding restriction changes.

To apply, please visit the website listed below. You can also call MDC for assistance: for weatherization services, call 253-593-2336; for energy assistance, call 253-383-3921 and select the Energy Assistance option. We're here to help you stay safe, warm, and supported.
