To All,

While we don't have "night warming shelters" available in the Gig Harbor / Key Peninsula community, please note a new overnight warming site near Parkland below.

Rob Huff confirmed the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management is working on setting up an overnight warming site in the Parkland area, likely to start around 8pm and go until 8am tomorrow morning. This would cover the time of the cold weather advisory that was issued by the National Weather Service for our area tonight, with warnings particularly about low wind chills.

William Palmer from DEM has joined this list and will be working along with Wyatt and others from DEM to help stand up the warming site, including alerting Pierce Transit to allow free rides to the site for those seeking warming overnight.

Look for more emails and potentially calls throughout the day today as we coordinate getting this set up. And thank you to DEM for making this resource happen overnight!

The Key Peninsula Civic Center is open daily, 8am - 9p.m. to anyone this weekend.

Our other daytime inclement warming shelters, Chapel Hill Presbyterian in GH,  and
Waypoint Church North / KPCS Sr. Ctr / Food Bank in Home will reopen Tuesday, Jan 21st, as well as Pierce County Libraries in GH and Key Center...

Thank You,   Bob / 206-930-7754
