It is with sadness and excitement that I let you know that I will be stepping down as the Co-Chair of the Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula Housing and Homelessness Coalition. I will be retiring from an almost 40 year career in Social Services and moving to North Florida. I have been blessed to have had such an amazing and fulfilling career and to end it in a community that I have loved for the past 30 years is very special. I was able to directly assist many thousands of families throughout the Northwest, create needed programs and services, and advocate for individuals and families in need at the local, state and federal level. I am truly grateful to have been given this opportunity and allowed to share in their struggles, joys and accomplishments. When I left Electrical Engineering for a career helping people in need, I had no idea that it would have such a huge payoff! My heart is filled with the caring and love from the individuals I have been able to serve.
I will be leaving the Coalition at the
end of this month (after the Point-In-Time count) and beginning the
work of moving across the county (it will be quite a process, so
don't be surprised if you see me around town for a while ).
I would like to thank Bob and all of the wonderful individuals who have worked to improve the quality of life for those experiencing homelessness or at risk in our community. There is much work still to be done, but we are making great progress and the future is looking brighter than ever.
Thank you for your help and allowing me to be a part of such a great community.
Sincerely,
Chris Morris
