Subject: RE: Requesting Update on Ordinance 28756 Please

Greetings everyone,

Thank you so much for reaching out, Maureen! We appreciate your patience, several of the sponsors were out of office last week so we weren’t able to meet until yesterday to discuss the status of the ordinance and next steps.

At this point the sponsors have not agreed to any language changes for the ordinance. We are meeting to talk about specifics related to implementation and fiscal impacts and have identified a couple of issues that may lead to changed language but not changed intent. CM Thoms and his fellow sponsors are all committed to sharing any language changes and getting input before moving forward with a vote.

Yesterday the sponsors decided that they would request Council postpone first reading of the ordinance to a date to be determined. This is so that they can take the time needed to get all of their questions answered before moving forward.

Thanks,

Lynda

Subject: Requesting Update on Ordinance 28756 Please

Good afternoon,

Just checking in to see where you are with Ordinance 28756 and to give you our timeline.  If you still intend the first reading of Ordinance 28756 on June 15 and want the Coalition to comment, we need the draft that will be presented to Council  as soon as possible but no later than the evening of June 8 so we can get it to our steering committee for our June 9 meeting.  If we are to publicly comment, we will have to take it to the Coalition the morning of June 11.

After reviewing the Matrix Group report and trying to sort out the 509-encampment sweep, I'm hoping you delay the June 15 date.

The Shelter Group working on ending street homelessness by Nov. 1, 2021 begins its meetings the afternoon of June 10.  The Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness Steering Committee begins our meetings the afternoon of June 11.  Mike Boisture represents the Coalition on the Shelter Group and I represent the Coalition on the Steering Committee.

Many thanks,

Maureen
