I'm not going to put this out on the full Coalition listerv until we work out the details - but here's where we are:
Thanks to Jan Runbeck's husband, Nourish Pierce County will provide pallets of bottled water FREE - 800 bottles/pallet. BUT we need to have a place for their truck to deliver the pallets and serve as our storage and distribution site. Any outreach worker,
staff or volunteer, could pick up what they need. Or even rent a truck and drive around to sites to distribute? You outreach workers know better than I.
Gerrit thinks two pallets will do it - 1600 bottles. I'm not sure - Sat-Sun-Mon look pretty hot right now.
I've reached out to Duke Paulson at TRM to see if we could use their parking lot.
Mike Yoder has agreed AM will be the fiscal sponsor for reimbursements as long as their indirect cost is covered.
I've asked Pierce County Human Services if they will cover any costs associated with distribution outside of the City of Tacoma.
I've asked Paula Anderson what she can do.
I think we will still need the option of individuals purchasing water for convenience - travel, hours of access, etc - and getting them reimbursed.
Jan asked the City if they'll cover distribution and storage.
I'll be gone from 11:30 - 2:30 but will catch up then.
All ideas welcome,
Maureen
