Thanks, James.
I appreciate the additional info! I am really excited about CLRs work in this area. Not only do you do amazing outreach, but I think your efforts to systematize and coordinate others to get involved, and to have the website available is so helpful. I can’t wait to hear more at the meeting next week.
I respect you and your team’s expertise on the situation on the ground. I hear your concerns about the physical space, the level of stress people are experiencing, and concern about folks being lost to follow up for a 2nd vaccine dose. I just wanted to share the following for this group’s consideration:
So far, TPCHD mobile teams, in collaboration with CLR and TRM, has vaccinated 70+ folks in the recent Tacoma-area outreach efforts (8th/Yakima, Evergreen College - both prior to a City sweep; and HWY 705). In addition, Greater Lakes team partnered with Medical Teams International between August and November to vaccinate over 90 folks in encampments. I think there is a model for success here.
Having said all that, it may be late for organizing vaccine resources around 25/Portland prior to the sweep. I’ll email you and Sonja separately to discuss how we might partner moving forward – If not at E 25th/Portland Ave E, then perhaps at some of your other “targeted” locations.
Thanks again for your amazing work!
Jennie

Good question. I think that refers to that location being temporary. The other two sites we are going to stay until all folks have been housed.
As for it not being a good site, we have two reasons. One, the folks have just been told they are to relocate next week. This has caused some frustration and it would be hard to find the individuals after the location has been relocated (if they need second doses). Two, is the access is a little challenging. It's up to you. If you want more information, please reach out to Sonja.

Thanks Maureen and James,
I hadn’t heard until now that it wasn’t a good site for setting up vaccine services. Can you elaborate on why that is the case?
I’m happy to mobilize our vaccine resources to support you wherever it’s needed if it’s feasible for us, and I look forward to hearing more about CLR’s plans moving forward.
Would it be helpful for you to have info for our Call Center or a one-pager about vaccine event resources to hand out to folks?
James – the website looks great! Can you tell me what the “**” means on the webpage? (see below).
Please include me on the distribution list so TPCHD can collaborate. Please also include my colleagues Leah Ford lford@tpchd.org & Rachel Hauser: rhauser@tpchd.org
Thanks,
Jennie

Friends,
In case you've missed the listserv messages, Sound Transit is sweeping the encampment at E. 25th & Portland. the notice was posted Friday Dec. 3 for a Dec. 17 sweep date. James Pogue, Ex Dir of Comprehensive Life Resources Homelessness Services, is taking the lead on coordinating outreach to the folks in this encampment. James says they don't know how many individuals are they've counted:
27 tents, 15 vehicles, 2 "semi's" and one RV. Itis a difficult environment.
It's a difficult location - Jan/Jennie - not a location for a vaccine clinic.
If you want to work with CLR, please let James know. He'll run a distribution list of interested folks - both the usual outreach teams and non-traditional partners. Note: no evangelizing or politicizing. No breaking the law or encouraging campers to break the law. James will walk you through expectations.
Thanks everyone,
Maureen
