Paula,
Wow. You’re quite incredible. I’m very impressed and even more grateful. A few follow up questions for you. Based on the needs that you’ve presented, it sounds like Christ Community Baptist Church and Our Lady Queen of Heaven will be serving as temporary shelters. Am I correct in that assumption? Or are they prepared to be warming centers? Also, are they ok with me advertising on various sites, including the coalition’s? Am I able to put New Hope down as a supply center? LASA will take Sunday. What day would you like to volunteer New Hope and what times?
I’ll update the resource guide and put out a community call for needs, once I confirm with Paula and Janne. Please let me know what those needs are as they come in and I’ll take it from there. Paula, did I tell you how grateful I am for you? 😊

Hello Delmar and Merry Christmas everyone!
Speaking for the East Pierce County area and our safe parking sites and churches, South Hill Baptist has agreed to stage a pallet of water for use by outreach workers. Thanks to Jan and her connections, I believe the water has already been delivered.
I can contact Pastor Paul at South Hill to see if he is open to stage supplies there. I believe it won’t be a problem, but I will let you all know as soon as possible. New Hope Resource Center could also triage supplies, although we would not be able to take huge amounts at once. I realize that’s vague…so I will do my best to get a hold of Pastor Paul to see if he can take some and then let the group know.
Also…I have some GREAT NEWS!
Christ Community Baptist Church at 8016 176th will be able to open at 4:00 pm Sunday. They will take approximately 15 people. They are getting resources and volunteers from Freezing Nights, and New Hope.
MORE GREAT NEWS! Our Lady Queen of Heaven, located at 14601 A ST. S, Tacoma has agreed to host 12 people starting Dec. 26th at 4:00pm through Dec 31st (if needed).
I am working with them to triage the supplies and meals. See requests below….
NEEDS AT THIS POINT:
I did get news that Rise Center has a need for blankets, pillows and hand towels for guests to use. They are taking approximately 20 people, starting at 4:00 pm on Sunday as well.
They said they are covered as far as staffing. I will work to get an update on whether they need food/meals or not.
Our Lady Queen of Heaven also needs blankets and pillows.
Additionally, they need meals and/or food and snacks. I’m working on that but if there are people available to help with meals, that would be outstanding! Also, coffee, sugar, creamer. Paper plates, cups, and hot cups.
Our mobile unit staff will be on site for several hours at each of the locations we’ve helped to open for this emergency.
Our sister ministry Freezing Nights, is helping to staff and provide meals to at least two out of the four locations.
Will keep everyone in the loop as things develop!
Thanks for all you do!

Coalition Partners,
Mr. Boyce, this is great. Thank you. Perhaps this could be useful for a meal or two at a warming center. Just a thought.
Team, I do have a question for you. I’ve had options about locations to hold supplies for outreach teams fall though. Any ideas from the group? It’s getting late and I’d love to have that established soon.

Maureen, the daily or 2x daily Zoom briefings would be incredibly helpful for those of us stuck at home. I hope Jody will consider it seriously.

Good Christmas morning,
Just a few items:
1.If you go out today or are providing information to outreach folks, remember NOT to just send people to shelters but to check availability first - use www.pchomeless.org and call the shelter. Gerrit is keeping that information updated. The more people we can convince to come inside today, the better. If they tell you they've been barred from a shelter, and it isn't for violence, see if you can either get them back in or into one of the other shelters. I honestly don't know what to do with folks barred for violence. But someone better figure it out and fast.
2.Remember Delmar Algee is our contact person at Pierce County Human Services and he's available after-hours. . (253) 281-3944. delmar.algee@piercecountywa.gov.
3. Pierce County Dept of Emergency Management will open its Emergency Operations Center Sunday at 9am. I've suggested to Jody Ferguson, Director, that they consider doing daily or twice daily Zoom "community" briefings - same time each day, same key topics, very brief, use the Chat for questions/comments/suggestions Open to the Full Coalition listserv. It seemed like a good idea and an easy way to save lots of email traffic. We'll see what she says. It's a bit out of the box.
Jody confirmed that they have communicated with all law enforcement, first responders, fire departments across the county.
She said they will contact all hospitals.
The weather has started to change - the dog came in earlier wearing big white wet snow flakes.
Take care everyone,
Maureen
