What is the reason to not allow civic organizations?

That is super exclusionary and dumb.  I would strongly push back on that.  There's a lot more to why they have decided to include this.   I am guessing this let's all County buildings off the hook.

Backgrounds are already being done through the screening process.

I wonder why civic organizations are being excluded ?   Would the county parks and rec locations be considered civic?  Jeff Rodgers had thrown that idea out to me late last year and it might have been nice to pursue that type of option.  Just thinking…

It appears that the substance of the amendments would:
  • Require the background check to identify if a person is a registered sex offender
  • Remove civic organizations as possible hosts of safe parking
Are either of these going to be major impediments to running safe parking as we do now?

You all may already know this, but there are several amendments proposed to the Safe Parking County ordinance.  These will be discussed (without public comment) at the Monday April 18 Study session.

I have attached the packet for this meeting.  See pages 11-14 for the proposed amendments.  One is a technical amendment by CM Mello.  The other two are proposed by CM Zeiger.  I cannot tell for sure if CM Zeiger’s amendments are technical or would have substantive impact on the Ordinance.

I will be watching this Study Session (I watch all of the County Monday S/S.
