Folks -
We're going to adapt In the Weeds to also talk about this.
Gerrit is not joining us today.

I am open to suggestions, but we need to make a decision during the Steering committee on how we have two representatives by COB Thursday.

If you can join early, please do so
Maureen

Given that they want the Coalition representatives identified by March 26th should we send something out to the Coalition list serve to request nominations?  Or take it up at this afternoon’s steering committee meeting and try to surface some names there to present to the Coalition on Friday for a vote?

John will join the Coalition call on Friday morning to answer questions and share what we’ve planned so far for next steps.  As for a “formal invitation” to join the ad hoc committee, per the Council’s resolution (you can find it here: otDocDownload.cfm (pierce.wa.us)), how’s this?

Per direction from the Pierce County Council, the Human Services Department is proceeding to establish an Ad Hoc Committee to assist in developing an Action Plan to present to the Council on or before Friday, April 23.  The purpose of the Action Plan is to outline the steps, participants, timeline, process, and resource needs to develop a Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness in Pierce County.  The completed Comprehensive Plan is due to the Council on or before Thursday, September 23.  Although the Ad Hoc Committee’s primary role is to develop the Action Plan, they may choose to continue their role in some fashion as part of the Comprehensive Plan development.

The Ad Hoc Committee of 10 individuals will be comprised of Human Services Department staff (3), Pierce County Continuum of Care members (2), Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness members (2), and local city representatives from Tacoma, Lakewood, and Puyallup (3).   The resolution requires at least one member of the committee has lived experience of homelessness, so we ask the Coalition and/or the CoC prioritize this criteria in their selection process. The Ad Hoc committee will meet 1-2 times per week, likely during work hours with at least one evening meeting; meetings will be open to the public. Please determine your organization’s representative by Friday, March 26 and send contact information to John Barbee at john.barbee@piercecountywa.gov.

Thanks – Heather

Subject: Pierce County Council Ad Hoc Committee Time Line

Good morning,

Thanks for your work with the Council to pass Resolution R2021-30s as amended last night.  And for all your responsiveness to us and our questions and suggestions.

We, the Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness, are developing a process for selecting our two representatives to the Ad Hoc Committee and it would be a great help if you can give us some idea of the timeline.  Will we receive a formal request from Pierce County Human Services and if so, when might that happen?   Would you like to meet with our Steering Committee, the full Coalition, or a small group to talk through what you are planning?  We will accommodate whatever works best for you.

For our part, we expect to bring a process for selection of any representation of the Coalition to participants in our Friday morning meeting for their vote.  This will just give us a process to use.

We're eager to participate but given our loose network structure, we have to plan ahead for anything "official,"

 Many thanks,

Maureen
