Good Morning CoC members.  I was speaking with the Membership Subcommittee folks this morning regarding some vacant seats on the CoC.  This is of high priority as it is expected that HUD will open the CoC application in the next few months and these seats are listed as HUD required and are included in our score of the community.

The membership committee would like to invite you all to invite folks to apply that might fill some of these seats.  The application can be found here: https://www.piercecountywa.gov/FormCenter/Human-Services-18/The-Road-Home-Membership-Candidate-Appli-566

There are a few spots missing that HUD asks about specifically in the CoC Application that I wanted to bring to the CoC’s attention.

1. Housing Authority.  While yes, we have THA we are missing Pierce County Housing Authority and the application specifically asks about all Housing Authorities in the area
2. School Admin/Homeless Liaison: We have 17 school districts and no representation on the CoC.  We can have more than 1 School District on the CoC  
3. CoC Funded Victim Service Organization:  There are only two CoC funded DV organizations.  Exodus Housing and Korean Women’s Association
4. CoC Funded Homeless Organization:  List includes:  Share and Care House, Metropolitan Development Council, Catholic Community Services, Greater Lakes Mental Health, Exodus Housing, Korean Women’s Assocation, and Helping Hand House
5. CoC Funded Youth Homeless Organization:  No currently funded YOUTH homelessness organization though CCS serves more youth/young adults than other organizations
6. Community Representative/Lived Expert: No lived experts on the CoC with recent homelessness experience or in this specific seat (there are folks with lived expertise but they don’t fill this seat or are not sharing their experience publicly)

1. Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness
2. Law enforcement
3. Local jail(s)
4. Hospital(s)
5. EMT/Crisis Response Team(s)
6. Mental Health Service Org
7. Mental Illness Advocate
8. Substance Use Svc Org
9. Substance Use Advocate
10. Affordable Housing Developer
11. Supportive Services for Veteran Families
12. Serve survivors of human trafficking
13. Dept of Justice

Please note to emphasis the mission/vision for the CoC and the fact that we are working to create or strengthen the Board to reflect the community being served within the Homeless System.  If there are any questions, anyone is welcome to reach out to Valorie Crout or Benjamin Feldbush.    Please share information with anyone who might be interested in serving on the CoC in any of these seats.
