Subject: RE: Next steps for the Ad Hoc committee
Hi, Gerrit.
First, thanks for pushing this. Answers below. Super open to suggestions, with a focus on the path of least resistance without sacrificing quality.
- Joe
Joseph, great presentation to the Human Services Committee Yesterday. A few questions:
- What are the next steps for County Council? CC will adopt a resolution accepting the Action Plan (aiming for May 18th HS Committee, May 25th Full Council)
- Will an ordinance be drafted to fund the temporary positions and consultant(s)/contractor(s)?
I am looking into what is required for the temporary positions. All other expenses are already covered via American Rescue Plan Act funds and Human Services has been directed to proceed to that end. Temp positions may also be covered, but I need to get
clarity. If need be, there will be a companion ordinance, along with the Resolution, to fund those positions.
- How does the Council formally accept the Action Plan?
Via resolution, as mentioned above.
- Do we plan for the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to be the same size and people as the current ad hoc committee?
The Resolution will direct PC Human Services Dept. to lead the process going forward as they see fit, following the Action Plan and building on the concepts discussed to date. I would suspect Heather will want to proceed as discussed during the Ad Hoc
meetings. We spoke to this, but I don’t believe landed on a final determination on how best to move forward. I would suggest to Heather to get the gang back together one more time and determine the best make up/group size going forward. Sounds like there will
be two “teams,” one focused solely on the Shelter Plan, the other on the Comprehensive Plan, per the Action Plan.
- Any plans for the size and composition of the Shelter Team?
Same answer as above.
- Does the Council need to give a charge to the steering committee, or is it implied in the acceptance of the Action Plan?
I’m still working on the Resolution, wherein any such “charge” will be named. I’m thinking it might be best to accept the Action Plan as written and to direct Human Services to proceed with the work as presented.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
-Gerrit
