Subject: Pierce County Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness

Greetings to our newly-formed Steering Committee and Shelter Plan Work Group!!!

Thank you for agreeing to be part of this exciting process in partnership with Pierce County Human Services. To keep us all straight for now, I’ve addressed this email to the full steering committee (there should be 17 of you, with one pending position), and I’ve included the shelter plan work group members in the cc line (there are 7 of you so far, with an 8^th coming once we hire the project manager for this whole effort). I’ve attached the current rosters for your reference.

I know we’ve been quiet over the last month, but there has been some work going on behind the scenes since our last meeting of the Council-created Ad Hoc Steering Committee:

Formed the expanded Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee
Formed the new Shelter Plan Work Group
Received approval from the County Council of our Action Report
Received approval to use funds from our ARPA allocation for homelessness to pay for 2 new temporary positions to help do this work
Assigned existing staff (Becki and Anne Marie!) to help support the work
Began hiring process for the two positions (a project manager and a data analyst)
Released an RFP to solicit proposals from potential facilitators

Now, we’d like to hold our first meeting with both of your groups. Becki Foutz from our team will be reaching out shortly to set up our two meetings in early- or mid-June, one with each group. We can talk about meeting duration and cadence when we meet, but for now we’ll plan on the Steering Committee meeting for 2 hours once every month between now and December, and the Shelter Plan Work Group will meet every two weeks for 2 hours between now and this Fall.

While we may not have our project manager or facilitator on board for these initial meetings, John and his team and I can get the ball rolling. We have lots of work to do in the next 3-6 months, with no time to waste!

Please be on the lookout for a poll from Becki as we try to find the best time for your two groups to meet. And thanks again for raising your hand.
