I think it’s a wonderful idea.

Subject: Steering Committee Doing a better job remembering people experiencing homelessness who have passed away

I was thinking about ways we might be able to do a better job remembering people experiencing homelessness who have passed on. I added a little area to the coalition website where we can list some basic information and a little tribute to people experiencing homelessness who have passed away. I think it would be nice for a number of reasons:

  1. Honor people in our homeless community who have passed away
  2. Better understand the number and reasons for the deaths of people experiencing homelessness so we can work to decrease them
  3. Have a better chance of remembering everyone who has passed on when we do a homeless memorial service in December

I haven’t entered anyone onto the list yet, but was hoping we could start filling it in with folks we know who have passed way since December 21st, 2020 (last year’s homeless memorial day). The list (well, empty right now) is at https://pchomeless.org/Memorials . Anyone can add someone to the list with a link on that page. While this feature is up and live, there is no link to it on the website – I’ll do so if we all think this is a good idea and get any changes put in place. I’ve asked for a few data elements that I think are interesting – but none are required. I’d like to include names, but we don’t need to for everyone. Would love some feedback on:

Thanks,

-Gerrit
