Hi Maureen

What about this small revision:
that the Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness commissions the Steering Committee to evaluate requests and -when appropriate - authorize individual coalition members to provide public comment on behalf of the Coalition regarding policy and/or funding issues in alignment with the Coalition's commitment to ending homelessness.

The fact that the primary person providing public comment would be Maureen Howard, Senior Policy Analyst, would not hinder the steering committee from authorizing someone else to also make comments. This way we would not need to hold a similar vote each time someone new makes a request to testify or comment on our behalf.

See you tomorrow!

Sorry about how late this is - I'm still catching up after the Heat Emergency.  I've been trying to think how to avoid taking so much Friday meeting time in voting on letters that I write on behalf of the Coalition.   Every time we formally comment, we raise our profile and gain a place in future conversations.  Some of the housing policy and funding is moving too quickly for our calendar.  The Tacoma Pierce County Affordable Housing Consortium Board of Directors approves an advocacy agenda annually and then the AHC Executive Director can comment without going back for approval.  We've been following the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance legislative agenda and then adding in specific national and/or local and sometimes state issues.  We have special actions - the ARPA funding list, the initial CARES funding priorities.  We also have the Requests from the Summits.

I'd like to try this for the summer.  I'll work with whatever committee might have input, advise the Steering Committee via email that I believe the Coalition should publicly comment, make the comment, and then share the final comment via the listserv and post on the Coalition website.

Does that make sense?

Here's my suggestion for Friday's vote except after working in South Africa with British English, I can't remember if a coalition takes a singular or plural verb...both now "sound" correct to me!

Thanks
